Following the CAPS curriculum, we can add to it to encourage and facilitate a more robust and foundational educational experience.

Teachers from Grades 1 through 7 work in a team to constantly evolve and fine-tune the educational journey of our young learners. We ensure that the foundational skills in mathematical concepts and language are sturdy enough for their high school careers and beyond.

Foundational Phase

Grades 1 to 3 are the cumulative years of the Foundation Phase. Learners who have grasped the fundamentals of literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills in the Pre-Prep enter a slightly more formal curriculum.

English and Afrikaans both continue as spoken languages, expanding on vocabulary and confidence in fluency. Creativity is encouraged through projects, exploration, and expression. They allow learners to become independent and capable drivers of their learning journey.

Senior Phase

The years from Grades 4 to 7 are years in which children grow tremendously within themselves, both socially and emotionally.

This internal and outward personal growth is accompanied by learning to recognise and exercise their academic potential as we prepare them for the challenges and content they will be exposed to in their high school years.

Having our high school on the same campus, although separate, allows us to constantly evaluate that our children are well-prepared for the demands of Grade 8 and beyond.

Acquiring specific fundamental skills and knowledge is essential, and we must maintain this. However, we are careful to balance this with allowing children to explore, create, conduct their research, problem-solve and make mistakes.

The ability to collaborate with one’s peers is an essential skill that we practise intentionally, both within and outside the classroom.

We are also blessed to run a Coding and Robotics programme through the Senior Primary years, in which each Grade has two hours per week of their timetable dedicated to this programme.
