Private Primary & High School - Missio Dei Christian School
In 2008, Missio Dei Christian school (MDCS) opened its doors for the very first time to eight students. Thus began the legacy of Christian schooling in the Verulam area as envisioned by its founders.
Missio Dei Christian School, under the guidance of Pastor Sunny Reddy, who is the principal, found its permanent home at 17 Robin Street, Dawncrest, Verulam.
In 2010 Missio Dei Christian School also opened its doors to their first group of 'small' learners. Today, Missio Dei Christian School has expanded their facilities, creating greater capacity for the high demand for quality care for our little ones.
Almost two decades later, Missio Dei Christian School continues to offer the best in Christian private schooling available in the Verulam area. Their individualised learning methodology, as well as the nationally recognised curriculum
(CAPS Aligned Curriculum) that Missio Dei Christian School subscribes to has made it a school of choice in the greater Verulam area.
Our preparatory educators collaborate effectively to facilitate a seamless transition from Grade to Grade. With small class sizes, the commencement of formal education becomes an engaging, supportive, individualized, and stimulating experience, rather than an intimidating one.
Our approach to teaching reading aims to maximize children's learning opportunities. Our literacy program includes developmentally appropriate instruction where younger children learn about letter sounds, patterns, and word structures, combined with meaning-focused instruction where students learn about vocabulary, text structure, discourse, genre, and communication patterns.
Our numeracy programme is designed to achieve mastery through intentional sequencing of concepts. Key features of this approach include the concrete-pictorial-abstract progression, number bonds, bar modelling, and mental math.
Rather than emphasizing rote memorization, children are encouraged to develop mathematical thinking and leverage the knowledge acquired from previous lessons. This approach effectively prepares them to excel in more advanced mathematics during the senior primary years.
